Waghäusel is a major district town (Große Kreisstadt) in the district of Karlsruhe, in Baden-Württemberg. Roland Baader was born in the Kirrlach quarter and spent most of his life in his home town. It was here that the family business he later took over was based, along with his impressive private library, which he bequeathed after his death to the private educational institution scholarium. He was also a welcome guest in the town's pubs and a popular conversation partner. The annual Roland Baader Meeting is held in Kirrlach in his honour.
